TIDE BC receives funding to help test the effectiveness of a PKU drug
Monday, April 16 11:58 PM | patients, pku, fundingThe diet used to control phyenlalanine (Phe) levels in patients with Phenylketonuria (PKU) is not only quite restrictive, it is also a life-long commitment. TIDE-BC is pleased to announce that it has just received funding to develop a Canadian Consortium to test the effectiveness of a drug that would enable more leeway in dietary choices for PKU patients.
An exciting new study called TIDEX has recently been launched as part of the TIDE-BC initiative. The aim of TIDEX is to identify new genes and/or mutations causing hitherto unexplained cases of developmental delay/intellectual disability using the latest cutting edge genomic technologies and analytical methods.

Our 'old' Tide website was created with the grant application in mind and primarily used as a tool to convince the reviewers of the need of our TIDE project. Indeed we succeeded and since we've been busy starting the TIDE project in many different ways: the first patients have been enrolled into the program, the TIDE Complex Clinic is up & running, our App treatable-id.org has been introduced as a new diagnostic online tool & our database is filling up with patients.
